Christine Ni

Biography

Christine Ni is a Manhua translator and expert on Chinese Pop Culture. Her first work published in the west was Visions of The Other Side, by Drama Queen,

Born In GuangZhou, Christine moved to the UK in 1993, and expresses her love for the UK and China equally. Her aim is to show the west that there is more to Chinese culture than Kung-Fu and Monkey (Though she thinks Kung-Fu and Monkey ARE pretty cool).

Christine began giving talks on Chinese pop culture at Amecon 2008, where she unveiled the western Premier of the animated feature Stormriders: Clash of Evils. She has spoken on tea culture, Chinese Animation, Martial arts film and series and Classical literature.

She is currently working on a new show based on Chinese Propagana posters, Translating and editing a book of Chinese Manhua, and is working with both the British Chinese Society, and the team behind the new cartoon network series Hero 108.

As well as fundraising for the Sechuan Earthquake appeal, She has DJ’d in Beijing’s infamous 13 Club, provided voices for Prestigious Chinese software companies, and has shown at the A&D Gallery in London.
