WelcomeHi there, if you’re looking at this page wondering where you are, you’ve reached the Kitacon homepage. Kitacon is an up-and-coming UK anime convention that takes place in Northampton and after successfully running its sell-out convention in April 2009, Kitacon is back! To those new to the con experience, Kitacon offers the ideal place to start. After all most of us began in Northampton and have never looked back. Kitacon is a convention run by fans for fans and be you young, old, a hard core fan or a newbie, with a capacity of 600 we offer a place for all. The convention will be held over the weekend of Friday 26th - Sunday 28th of March, 2010 at the Park Inn Hotel Northampton. The venue can be found only a 5 minute walk from the train station and with easy access to the M1 motorway (directions and photos can be found in the Venue section of the website). A full range of activities will be on offer including fantastic parties, live artists straight from Japan, Voice Actors - Chris Patton and Leah Clark, panels, games, dealers’ room and of course 24hr anime showings throughout the convention, plus a few events we are keeping under wraps for now. So as you can see Kitacon has a lot to offer. Please join the forum to chat and make friends or query us about the convention. We look forward to seeing you all in March. NewsPayment deadlines!Posted Monday, January 25, 2010 - 21:59 Please, please, PLEASE check your payment deadlines people! The deadline is 2 weeks, as stated in the terms and conditions you agreed to when you signed up. The 90 days extension was a temporary measure to cover people over Christmas. When we became full, we restored our original 14 day deadline and announced here on the site, the forum and various other channels that we use. We are getting a lot of people complaining that their membership expired before they had paid. Don't assume that you have forever and don't assume there isn't a deadline at all! I have repeatedly asked for people to contact us with regards to cheques, as we are receiving cheques AFTER registrations have expired. Please let us know so we can keep our eyes out for these, as it takes much longer then paying online instantly. Conventions are financed by YOU! This means if you do not pay, we cannot hire venues, guests, equipment and get things done, so that is why we require the money ASAP and set a deadline. Now that the event is only 2 months away, we will be enforcing a strict deadline now to ensure we have the appropriate funds to give you the best convention yet! We will again announce any further changes to the deadlines if they change again. Sorry to sound like a grumpy old moaner, but we really need people to check how long they have left to pay (you can access this in the registration control panel). It's unfair to people on the waiting list if they have to wait longer for someone who didn't look. Thanks. Guest love! <3Posted Friday, January 22, 2010 - 13:51 Afternoon all! I am here to remind you all about our special guests that are coming over for your entertainment! First of all, we have the legendary Chris Patton coming back for another round of dodgy shenanigans! For those who don't know or didn't attend Kitacon 2009, Chris Patton is an anime voice actor from the USA. You might know him best for his roles in Full Metal Alchemist, Soul Eater, One Piece, D Gray Man and Baccanno! He'll be bringing his friend Leah Clark with him too! The lovely Leah is not only a voice actress (her credits include XXX Holic, Spice & Wolf, Soul Eater and Sgt Frog!) she is also directs too! Together, they'll be bringing you various panels, events and signings. Oh yeah, they'll be up late again for another saucy session! Providing the musical support will be our double headliners, HITT and Gothika! HITT will be bringing his lively self back to the UK for a special gig just for us to celebrate the release of his album due March 12th! Gothika will also be returning to the UK shores for us with their sexy brand of dark electronica and industrial music, get ready to dance! Gothika will be performing with a special guest member from the band 'Neon Synthesis' on electronic drums for an even better live show experience! Both HITT and Gothika will be providing CD's etc for purchase and will be holding signing sessions over the weekend! Check out their websites for a taster of what's to come! Also, go to the guest section of our website for more info! Extra spaces!Posted Wednesday, January 20, 2010 - 14:46 We've decided to increase our registration capacity to 650, due to popular demand!! As we have a waiting list, these spaces are not for general sale to the public. Everyone on the waiting list was moved up the queue until the extra spaces were filled. Remember to check your registration control panel for details on how long you have left to pay! If you are paying by cheque, please email your details to treasurer@kitacon.org or registrations@kitacon.org so that we can keep an eye on the cheques coming in/PO Box so that you don't miss out from a late cheque! I'd advise you to try and pay via GoogleCheckout or Paypal as soon as possible, to guarantee your spot! The current payment deadline is now 2 weeks, but this is likely to change nearer to the convention, we'll announce any changes, so keep your eyes peeled. Some of you may have received funny emails from our automated registration system saying your registration had expired when it had not, please ignore them or email us to check if you're unsure. We'd also like to say a massive SORRY for the system cock-up the other week that removed a lot of people from the registration list. We hope that we have now rectified most of the problems, most of you should have been reinstated! One last thing, DON'T FORGET YOUR ID! If you don't have any, go here now! http://www.validateuk.co.uk/ |
