If you’ve been living under a rock /and or passed out for the entire weekend from drink at a convention then the Masquerade is one of the important events for cosplayers, and cosplay admirers (steady boys and girls) during the con. It’s a time to show off your sewing and costume skills, proudly in front of an audience as you strut your stuff down a catwalk. It’s your Five minutes of fame, in which you would make Naomi Campbell spit feathers.
Masquerade Entry Rules
Okay, so unfortunately we have a few rules:
As this is Masquerade ONLY no Skits are allowed, save that for the separate talent show (Kita’s got Talent?).
Weapons that exceed the limits of the general weapon and prop rules are allowed, but must ONLY be used in the Masquerade, and must be taken back and hidden in your room, car or TARDIS. Basically we need them secured, out of sight and off the main convention floor straight afterward.
You must arrive on time for rehearsals and the actual event when required. No exceptions. We only have a small amount of time to get you all in order. The times will be announced during the opening ceremony and/or on the events timetable at the convention.
As this isn’t a competitive event, any cosplays are allowed, be it hand sewn with a blunt piece of toothpick or bought by your mum’s friend’s dog from eBay. It’s just a bit of fun! And it’s how you wear it is what counts.
We also don’t restrict Cosplay to just those from Japanese ANIME/MANGA; costumes from western movies, comics and cartoons are also permitted, along with original designs.
The music will be a set list track, so we unfortunately won’t be taking requests.
